Volunteer

There are so many ways that you can play a role in feeding the hungry of the world by volunteering with the Gleaners.

Maybe all you want to do is spend a few hours one morning preparing some vegetables for production or helping maintain the production facility.

Do you have a special skill or a particular hobby or interest that you would like to share?  The Gleaners have many needs - from bookkeeping thru to fixing a potato peeler.  There is never a shortage of opportunities to play a role.

Either way your contribution - big or small - will make a difference in ultimately feeding the worlds hungry.  The Gleaners can only exist because of volunteers.

The Board of Directors have approved Volunteer Guidelines. Please read here before volunteering.

We feed the hungry

If you can clean and chop vegetables, then you can help at our Gleaners plant.

Individuals and families are invited to drop-in and help any morning, Monday through Friday, from 8:30 am to noon. Working at Gleaners is a great experience for families with children.

Our work continues year-round, depending on the availability of fresh or frozen vegetables and fruit. You can call ahead to determine what we are likely to be processing over the next few days. May to November is our peak period when the harvests are overflowing in the Okanagan Valley.

We are closed on all Stat holidays.

We can accommodate about 50 volunteers at a time, so large groups should book in advance to avoid overcrowding.

Churches, youth groups, seniors and families are invited to spend part of their vacation in the beautiful Okanagan Valley, volunteering with the Gleaners.

Work with us in the morning and explore the south Okanagan in the afternoon.

When you or your group are volunteering at the Okanagan Gleaners, you can camp right on the

Gleaners plant site, in a tent or in one of our 12 RV sites, but be sure to book well in advance

to guarantee a spot.
